FHA Mortgage: What To Do Look For

When dealing with FHA from a buyer’s perspective, you need to make sure that the home is in move-in condition. Look for these items.

  • Check roof and make sure that the corners of shingles are not turned up. Strong indicator that the roof might be nearing end-of-life.
  • Look at ceiling through-out house to look for water stains or cracks.
  • All cabinets need to be in their place (kitchen, bathrooms, etc.). Toilets and sinks are attached and working.
  • If there is a basement, look for any cracks and see if there is salt residue.
  • Furnace and water heaters working.
  • In homes older than 1978, look for chipping paint.

I know it is a lot to learn but could save you time, energy and money.
